A Hyperliquid leaderboard is useful because it turns thousands of active wallets into a smaller list of traders worth checking. But a leaderboard is only the beginning of research. If you read it as a simple ranking of who is best, you can easily overrate wallets with one lucky close, one oversized position, or a short burst of unrealized profit.
HyperStats makes the leaderboard safer to read. Instead of asking only who made the most money, it shows grade, rank, realized PnL, win rate, account context, current exposure, and wallet pages so you can decide whether a trader is actually strong.
The first job of a Hyperliquid trader leaderboard is discovery. It helps you find wallets that may be worth opening, saving, or comparing. A good leaderboard quickly shows which wallets are active, which traders have closed meaningful results, and which tokens they are trading.
That does not mean the top row is automatically the best trader. Leaderboards compress complex behavior into a few columns. They are strongest when they narrow the search space, then send you to the wallet page for verification.
Raw PnL is attractive because it is easy to understand, but it can be misleading. A wallet can show huge PnL because it has a large account, used extreme leverage, closed one lucky trade, or is sitting on a temporary open position that may reverse.

A high rank with a weak grade should make you cautious. A strong grade with a lower rank can still be more interesting if the wallet has better evidence behind its results.
Win rate helps show how often a trader closes profitably, but it is not enough by itself. A trader can have a high win rate and still lose money if the losses are much larger than the wins. A trader can also have a lower win rate but strong PnL if winners are sized and managed well.
That is why win rate should be read with realized PnL, closed risk, position size, leverage, liquidation history, and account structure. Good leaderboard research asks how the result was made, not only whether the number is green.

The wallet page shows current positions, entry price, mark price, liquidation price, margin, leverage, open PnL, realized PnL, history, entries, and recent activity. This is where you verify whether the trader is actually worth following.
The wallet page can reveal things the leaderboard cannot. A trader may be concentrated in one fragile position, recently changed strategy, or have a noisy history of reductions and liquidations. Those details matter before you save the wallet or use it for copy trading research.
A strong trader is more useful when you understand the market they are trading. If a leaderboard wallet is heavily long HYPE, short BTC, or adding SOL, open the token terminal to see current positioning, long short bias, recent large activity, and the strongest wallets around that token.
This prevents a common mistake: treating one trader's position as the whole market. Use the leaderboard for discovery, the wallet page for verification, token terminal for market context, and Live Activity for fresh changes.
Start with the Top Traders page. Sort by a realized period that matches your timeframe. Look for strong grade, meaningful realized PnL, acceptable win rate, and real proof. Then open the wallet, inspect positions and history, and save the trader only if the behavior still looks useful.
